(1) Dans la Bible (livre de la Genèse), Abraham, sur ordre divin, est contraint de quitter son pays avec sa famille. Il donne à son neveu, Loth, le premier choix sur les terres qu'ils devront se partager. Loth choisit les plaines fertiles du Jourdain, Abraham récupère les terres restantes et se fixe au pays de Canaan, qui deviendra plus tard... la Terre Promise.
